Q?
What makes Sabrosa Salts different from other blended sea salts?

A.
What makes Sabrosa Salts different from other blended sea salts is our choice to combine two different size salt crystals, our decision to use the highest quality Celtic grey sea salt from the Guerande region of France and our salt to herb/spice ratio. Other blended sea salt products typically use one type of dry sea salt that results in herbs and spices sitting around and on top of a bunch of salt. Their ratio of salt to herbs/spices results in a product that is more herbs/spices than salt.

Q?
Why does Sabrosa use two different size salt crystals?

A.
The different size salt crystals release their flavor into the food and on your tongue at different rates thereby offering more excitement to your palate and provide a crunchy texture to tantalize your taste buds to the max.

Q?
Why does Sabrosa use Celtic Grey Sea Salt?

A.
Sabrosa uses Celtic grey sea salt because it is wet and full flavored, but not too salty. When mixed with herbs and spices, our Celtic grey sea salts result in flavorful, clean, natural, unrefined salts whose crystals become infused with flavor.

Natural Celtic Sea Salts are a “moist” unrefined sea salt usually found on the coastal areas of France. Its light grey, almost light purple color comes from the clay found in the salt flats. The salt is collected by hand using traditional Celtic methods. This natural product is obtained from traditional organic salt farmers, under the highest quality controls. The Celtic grey sea salt we use is certified organic by France’s Nature & Progres. This is considered the most rigorous salt certification process, which equates to purity and equality.

Q?
Do all sea salts taste the same?

A.
No, all sea salts to do not taste the same. The colors, flavors and textures of sea salt are reflective of where and how the salt was harvested. Just like tea, coffee, olive oil and wine, sea salt flavors and quality will vary based upon their place of origin.

Q?
How is salt made?

A.
Sea salt is produced through evaporation of seawater in clay ponds, usually with minimal processing, which leaves behind some trace minerals and elements depending on its place of origin. These minerals add flavor and color to sea salt, which also comes in a variety of coarseness levels. Table salt is mined from underground salt deposits and is more heavily processed to eliminate trace minerals and usually contains an additive to prevent clumping.

Q?
What is the difference between sea salt and regular table salt?

A.
The difference between sea salt and table salt are in their taste, texture and processing. Both consist mostly of two minerals, sodium and chloride. However, sea salt is often considered a more natural and healthy alternative due to its lower sodium and higher mineral content.
